A baby's diet presents unique challenges. The first 4 to 6 months of babies' life is spent sleeping, crying and eating. During these months, milk via breastfeeding is most beneficial as babies diet.
If breastfeeding is not possible than iron fortified infant food with added vitamin D should be taken in diet.
The dietary need of child changes as baby grows. Baby's good health his diet should include:-
1. Dairy products like yogurt and soft cheese as these contains calcium, protein and vitamins.
2. Baby cereals containing wheat and other mixed grains with high protein.
3. Nicely chopped fruits.
4. Boiled or cooked vegetables depending upon the age of baby.
5. Pure fruit juice without any sweetener added.
6. Egg York and lean meat as they are good source of protein.
Things to be aware of during winter:
1- During winter season, it is inevitable that baby will get few cold no matter what you do. So to minimize the chances you should wash your hands whenever you feed baby.
2- Baby's feel too cold as baby lose heat faster as compared to adults so dress up them in layers.
3- If baby is 6 months or older, get baby a flu vaccine so that baby will be immune to influenza which is dangerous for babies.
4- Take baby outside in fresh air and during night times use blankets. Avoid over bundling and overheating.
5- Avoid use of charcoal, cooking stove or generators as these affects on baby's health.
