It is not easy to maintain a healthy diet in the hostels because there are most of the things are not under your control.Hostel life is a life full of freedom. There is no interference of parents in eating or living habits. You have to take care of all the responsibilities by yourself.
Always be smart in choosing the type of food. Select the foods which are rich in carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, etc. And try to avoid junk food as we know that the food that is available in hostels is also a junk food. To counter the effects of bad diet, eat salads and drink a lot of fruit juice every day. Drink plenty of water to clears the stomach, prevent acidity and help the bowel movement.
Always choose whole wheat roti instead of white rice because whole wheat is a complex carbohydrates which is high in fiber whereas white rice is a refined grain and lacks basic nutrients.
Buy some oats and pour some boiling milk on them and they are ready to eat. Buy a kettle to boil milk and eggs.
Add some eggs to your diet to fulfil your protein intake of a day.
